EXCITING MUSTANG 2011 SHELBY PHOTOGRAPHS

The 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is a god among muscle cars. For 2011, it gains more power and sheds a lot of weight — making it the best iteration yet. “Who among the Mustang faithful wouldn’t want the fastest and arguably best Mustang ever?” asks AutoWeek. “The 2011 GT500 is fabulously fast, ruggedly handsome and imposingly obvious. It has leading-edge technologies that pony cars aren’t necessarily supposed to have.”
The 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is a performance-tuned variant of the 2011 Ford Mustang — which earns praise among muscle cars for its impressive performance and attractive retro-styled exterior design. In fact, the latest Ford Mustang is arguably a Camaro killer.
In terms of special editions, the Ford Mustang is among the hardest-working cars in the industry. In addition to Ford’s own limited-run Mustangs, countless tuners and aftermarket companies owe their entire existence to the Ford pony car. Chief among the companies cashing in on the Mustang’s performance potential is Shelby, who has pumped out a variety of special-edition Mustangs over the years. But, in addition to the800-hp Super Snake Shelby unveiled at the New York auto show, the fabled company announced a plan that is fundamentally different from nearly everything it has ever done.
Engineered in partnership with the legendary Carroll Shelby, who created the first Ford Mustang Shelby GT in 1965 by modifying a regular Ford Mustang, the 550-horsepower 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is a drag racer’s dream. And though it’s not designed to behave like an agile sports car, test drivers report that performance upgrades allow it to handle twists and turns with more ease than ever before. Altogether, reviewers find that this pony is a great American performance vehicle.
Though the Mustang Shelby GT500 received extensive upgrades in 2010, this year’s model is also revised — leaving critics more satisfied than ever before. In addition to light stylistic changes and 10 more horsepower, the coveted Shelby GT500 sheds 120 pounds in excess weight and gains an optional SVT Performance Package. “When looked at individually, the upgrades to the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500′s upgrades may not impress,” writes Motor Trend. “But when you’re behind the wheel, the GT500′s modifications more than equal the sum of their parts.”
The 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is available in two body styles: coupe and convertible.
